Doing Better, Thank You

9/05/2006

So, if you're a regular around here, you may be aware of my embarrassing attempt to ride my bike to work this summer. I may have exaggerated the pain a little, but I still deserved your pity (and/or laughter). While I haven't attempted to ride to work again (I moved further away with no easy/safe route...and I don't want my stink to add to the already disgusting smell of our office environment), I have done some riding around my neighborhood recently. You should be proud of me. I rode approximately 8 miles yesterday and I felt great! Now, don't expect this to be a daily feat. I had yesterday off, so I had plenty of daylight without waking up before I absolutely had to. Plus, it was a bit cooler and cloudy yesterday, so I didn't die. One of the most helpful changes that made my comfortable ride possible: a new seat. That 2 inch wide torture device is gone...replaced with a nice, cushy, (almost) bum-width seat. It's perfect. Now if only the weather will cooperate and I don't waste the daylight, I just might get in shape. One day.
